- Use small icons as data URIs in CSS (saves HTTP requests)
- Embed SVG in CSS background-image

Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded?
No. Conversion runs entirely locally using the FileReader API. No server transfer.
How large is a base64 image compared to the original?
Base64 encoding increases the file size by about 33%. A 10 KB PNG becomes about 13.3 KB of base64 text.
When should you avoid data URIs?
For images over 10 KB — large data URIs bloat HTML/CSS, prevent browser caching and increase parse overhead. For large images, separate files + CDN are better.
Which formats are supported?
All browser-native image formats: PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP and SVG.
What is the difference between data URI and base64?
Base64 is the encoding (binary to ASCII). Data URI is the format (data:mime;base64,...) that makes base64 data directly embeddable in HTML/CSS.
Can I use the result directly in HTML?
Yes — the "Copy HTML" button generates a ready <img src="data:..."> tag. Just paste into your code.
