What it does

Classic web-analytics tools set cookies and transfer data to the USA — both require a consent banner and cost up to 50 % of measurement data. Reach measurement in XICTRAQ Analytics works completely without cookies and without storage in the browser; visits are distinguished by a pseudonymous daily identifier, and the IP address is not stored. This means: a consent banner is usually not required for pure reach measurement (the case-by-case legal assessment remains with you) and still the complete feature set of an enterprise analytics suite — from pageviews and click heatmaps to form analytics, video/audio tracking, session recording and A/B testing, plus automated anomaly insights. All data stays on EU servers.

11 / 27

E-Commerce tracking (25+ shops)

Cart, checkout funnel and orders — automatic for WooCommerce, Shopify, Shopware, Magento, PrestaShop and 20+ more, revenue on WooCommerce, Shopify, Shopware, PrestaShop and JTL-Shop among others; refunds via xictraq.refund(). Logged-in customers detected automatically.

12 / 27

Shop auto-detection for 25 systems

Without manual setup: WooCommerce, Shopify, Shopware 5/6, Magento/Adobe Commerce, PrestaShop, OpenCart, OXID, JTL, Gambio, BigCommerce, Squarespace, Wix, nopCommerce, CS-Cart, VTEX, Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFRA), SAP Commerce/Spartacus, Shoptet, plentymarkets, Volusion/Shift4Shop, Zen/osCommerce, X-Cart, Snipcart, Ecwid and modified/xt:Commerce. Captured events: product view, add to cart, remove from cart, checkout, purchase and refund.

13 / 27

Product data per event

Every e-commerce event carries the commercial details with it: product name, item no./SKU, variant, price, quantity, category and manufacturer/brand. Category and manufacturer are detected automatically from JSON-LD, microdata/meta tags and the breadcrumb path (with per-shop additions). This lets you evaluate assortment, variants, categories and brands cleanly — without extra instrumentation.

14 / 27

Cart snapshot net & gross

The cart is mirrored 1:1: all line items with name, variant, item no., quantity plus unit and line price, together with subtotal, shipping, tax and grand total — always net and gross, independent of the shop display mode, including tax mode and currency.

15 / 27

Image & gallery tracking

Captures lightbox/zoom opens and gallery switches — each with image URL, alt text and title. See which product and gallery images visitors actually look at more closely.

16 / 27

RUM & Core Web Vitals (ms-precise)

Real-user monitoring straight from your visitors’ browsers, cookieless and millisecond-precise: TTFB, FCP, LCP, INP, CLS and the full page load. Aggregated by page, device and connection — real field data instead of lab values.

17 / 27

Auto-identify without forced PII

Logged-in customers are recognised without forced PII — customer number plus type (B2B/B2C) or group, alongside name or company where the shop exposes it in the DOM or profile/checkout fields. Automatic for Shopware, Shopify, WooCommerce/WordPress, PrestaShop, Drupal, Joomla, TYPO3 and BigCommerce, plus a generic convention (window.xictraqUser, meta[name=xictraq:user-id] or data-user-id) for any custom application.

18 / 27

Identified-users view (cross-day)

Recognised customers are collected in a dedicated "identified users" view and additionally appear in the visitor detail. Sessions are linked across days via the external customer number — so you see returning customers across multiple visits. The customer number and, where provided, name or company are personal data.

19 / 27

Consent auto-bridge to common CMPs

XICTRAQ automatically adopts the statistics/analytics consent from 16 common consent management platforms as well as the IAB TCF v2.2 and Consent Mode v2 standards. Cookieless reach measurement keeps running; only consent-required features such as session recording wait for consent and stop on withdrawal.

20 / 27

E-commerce analytics as a dedicated tab

A dedicated tab area bundles overview, order history (carts and orders chronologically with status open/abandoned/purchased/refunded), per-product performance (views, cart, revenue), carts, abandonment (rate and lost value), recovery for identified customers with an open cart, finances (gross, discount, net, shipping, tax, refund), revenue sources and customers. AI analyses of funnel, abandonment, products, finances and recovery can be triggered right in the tab via the AI assistant.

21 / 27

Snippet with SRI & pixel fallback

A one-line script tag with content-hash rotation and Subresource Integrity (SRI) embeds the tracker tamper-resistant; a noscript pixel fallback also captures visitors without JavaScript. crossorigin and integrity come preconfigured.

22 / 27

Per-site tracker configuration

Forms, media, recording, sample rate, mask selectors, URL excludes — all toggleable in the dashboard. Recording always waits for consent. Changes take effect within 5 min, no re-embed.

23 / 27

Real-time dashboard

Live view of active visitors plus daily/weekly/monthly views with comparison periods, custom events and revenue tracking — cookieless.

24 / 27

Date-range comparison per card

A global comparison control in the analytics overview: vs. previous period, vs. previous year or a custom date range. The chosen comparison applies to every card — KPI cards show the delta versus the comparison period, breakdown cards a comparison pill in the header. The colour is direction-aware: more visitors green, a higher bounce rate red.

25 / 27

Monitor + browser viewport

Resolution stats track monitor size (screen) and the actual browser window (innerWidth/innerHeight) separately. See how large users actually render your site — independent of the device.

26 / 27

AI traffic visibility

AI crawlers read your content for AI answers — and AI answers send visitors back to you. Both become visible: which AI crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and others) access how often, and which AI source (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and others) your visitors come from. The crawl-to-visitor ratio additionally shows how many AI crawler hits there are per visitor returning via an AI answer — so you can tell whether the crawl effort translates into real traffic. XICTRAQ counts AI crawlers once they load the tracking pixel or run the script — most do neither, so the figure is a lower bound.

Process

How it works

1

Add tracking snippet

Add a lightweight script tag (under 30 KB compressed) to your website. The snippet sets no cookies and loads no external resources.

2

Data is collected cookieless and pseudonymously

Pageviews are sent to XICTRAQ with metadata (referrer, device type, approximate location). IP addresses are not stored but only used for the daily session key, approximate geolocation (country, region, city) and identifying the network operator, and then discarded.

3

View analytics in dashboard

All metrics are available in real-time in the XICTRAQ dashboard. Filter by time period, page, source or device -- without delay and without sampling.

Privacy by design

k-anonymity: small segments are not exposed

Cookieless measurement alone does not prevent re-identification when a single visitor is the only data point in a rare segment. That is why XICTRAQ consolidates small location cohorts before they appear in the dashboard.

Cookieless reach measurement, no browser identifier

No cookies, no fingerprinting, and traffic measurement creates neither an identifier in the browser nor persistent person profiles; only session recording stores an identifier for the recording in sessionStorage after consent. Reach measurement creates no cross-device recognition — the data basis is sparse from the start.

k-anonymity threshold for small segments

Location breakdowns (cities, regions) are aggregated so that every listed row covers at least K distinct visitors. Rows below the threshold are folded into an "Übrige" (other) bucket instead of being listed individually.

Data minimisation over the individual

This reduces the re-identification of individual people via rare location combinations. Headline metrics (visitors, pageviews, bounce rate) remain fully intact — only the fine-grained small segments are consolidated.

Transparency note: XICTRAQ currently uses small-cohort suppression (no artificial noise injection / differential privacy). The k-anonymity threshold reduces re-identification but does not replace a case-by-case legal assessment.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I not need a cookie banner?
Reach measurement in XICTRAQ Analytics sets no cookies, stores nothing in the browser, does not store IP addresses and creates no persistent user profiles; visits are distinguished by a pseudonymous daily identifier. The exception is automatic customer recognition from the Business plan: it links visits of logged-in customers to their customer number and, where the site provides them, to name or company, and is therefore personal data. Because reach measurement stores nothing in and reads nothing from the browser, consent under § 25 TDDDG is usually not required for it; for the pseudonymous daily identifier, legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR usually comes into consideration as the legal basis. The specific legal assessment depends on your use case; we recommend review by your data protection officer.
How accurate is the data without cookies?
Cookieless analytics captures every pageview -- unlike cookie-based tracking where up to 50% of visitors deny consent. Re-identification beyond the day does not take place in reach measurement (privacy by design): the daily key of the visitor identifier is a random value generated anew each day and deleted once the day is over. The exception is customer recognition from the Business plan, which assigns visits of signed-in customers via their customer number. In return you get reliable aggregate metrics: visits, pageviews, time on page, sources and devices.
Can I replace my existing web-analytics tool with this?
For most SMBs, yes. XICTRAQ Analytics provides pageviews, visitor sources, device statistics and campaign tracking. Features like cohort analysis or remarketing lists that rely on personal data are intentionally not included — that is the price for cookie-free and GDPR-compliant.
Is analytics data stored in Germany?
Yes. Analytics data is collected, processed and stored in our data centre in Nuremberg. Only if you ask the AI assistant for analyses are summarised figures sent to the language model provider in the USA (privacy policy, section 9b).
How large is the tracking script?
The XICTRAQ Analytics snippet is around 26 KB Brotli-compressed (around 27 KB gzip, around 94 KB minified) and delivers the complete feature set in return: pageviews, click heatmaps, Core Web Vitals, form analytics, media tracking, custom events and A/B testing. It loads asynchronously, does not block rendering and has no measurable impact on load time or Core Web Vitals.
Does XICTRAQ Analytics support UTM parameters?
Yes. All standard UTM parameters (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, utm_content) are recognized and displayed in the dashboard as campaign reports. This lets you measure the success of your marketing campaigns.
Can I see which AI crawlers read my website?
Partly. XICTRAQ classifies known AI crawlers by their user agent (e.g. GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, OAI-SearchBot) and shows in the analytics dashboard which bot accessed how often and when it was last seen. These hits are kept separate from your human visitors and do not distort visitor counts. A crawler is captured once it loads the tracking pixel or runs the script; most AI crawlers do neither, so the figure is a lower bound.
Can I identify visitors arriving from an AI answer?
Yes. When a visitor reaches your site via a link from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, You.com or DeepSeek, the AI source is derived from the referrer and surfaced in the dashboard as a dedicated AI referral channel — including its share of total traffic. This shows whether and how AI answers contribute to your reach.
Can I compare time periods with each other?
Yes. The analytics overview has a central comparison control: "compare with" previous period, previous year or a custom date range. The chosen comparison applies to every card at once — KPI cards (e.g. visitors, pageviews) show the delta versus the comparison period, breakdown cards a comparison pill in the header. The colour is direction-aware: more visitors or conversions are shown green, a higher bounce rate red. In the backend the compare_mode parameter (previous, year or custom) controls the behaviour.
Which shop and CMS systems are detected automatically?
XICTRAQ detects e-commerce tracking for 25 systems without manual setup, including WooCommerce, Shopify, Shopware 5/6, Magento/Adobe Commerce, PrestaShop, OpenCart, OXID, JTL, Gambio, BigCommerce, Squarespace, Wix, plentymarkets, SAP Commerce/Spartacus and Salesforce Commerce Cloud. Captured events are product view, add to cart, remove from cart, checkout, purchase and refund — each with product name, item no./SKU, variant, price, quantity and category.
Are cart values captured net or gross?
Both. The cart snapshot mirrors every line item 1:1 (name, variant, item no., quantity, unit and line price) and provides subtotal, shipping, tax and grand total always net and gross — regardless of whether your shop displays net or gross. Tax mode and currency are carried along so analysis stays comparable across shops.
How does XICTRAQ measure the load time of real visitors?
Via real-user monitoring (RUM) directly in your visitors’ browsers, cookieless and millisecond-precise. It captures TTFB, FCP, LCP, INP, CLS and the full page load, aggregated by page, device and connection. This gives you field data from real usage instead of isolated lab values.
Can I attribute logged-in customers without the shop having to provide names?
Yes. Logged-in customers are recognised without forced PII: the customer number and type/group are stored and, where the shop provides them, name or company. This works automatically for Shopware, Shopify, WooCommerce/WordPress, PrestaShop, Drupal, Joomla, TYPO3 and BigCommerce. For custom applications there is a generic convention via window.xictraqUser, meta[name=xictraq:user-id] or a data-user-id attribute.
How is the tracker embedded tamper-resistant?
Via a one-line script tag with Subresource Integrity (SRI) and content-hash rotation: <script defer src="https://api.xictraq.com/t.v<hash>.js" data-site="YOUR-SITE-ID" integrity="sha384-..." crossorigin="anonymous"></script>. The integrity hash ensures that only the unchanged file is executed; a noscript pixel fallback additionally captures visitors without JavaScript.
How does XICTRAQ work together with my cookie/consent banner?
XICTRAQ automatically detects the statistics/analytics consent from 16 common consent management platforms (CMPs) as well as the IAB TCF v2.2 and Consent Mode v2 standards and adopts it as a signal. Cookieless reach measurement runs continuously and independently because it requires no consent. Only consent-required features — currently session recording — start after consent has been granted and stop automatically as soon as it is withdrawn.
Which e-commerce analytics do I get?
A dedicated tab area provides an overview, order history (carts and orders chronologically with status open, abandoned, purchased or refunded), per-product performance (views, cart, revenue), carts, abandonment with rate and lost value, recovery for identified customers with an open cart, finances from gross through discount, net, shipping and tax to refund, revenue sources and customers. AI analyses of funnel, abandonment, products, finances and recovery can be triggered directly in the tab via the AI assistant.
How does XICTRAQ link returning customers across several days?
Logged-in customers are linked across days via their external customer number and shown in a dedicated "identified users" view as well as in the visitor detail. Customer number, type (B2B/B2C) or group and — where the shop exposes it in the DOM or in profile/checkout fields — name or company come exclusively from what the shop itself provides; there is no obligation to collect personal data.
What does the k-anonymity threshold mean for location data?
In the location breakdowns (cities, regions), XICTRAQ does not list segments with very few visitors individually but groups them into an "Übrige" (other) bucket. A specific city or region is only shown once a minimum number of distinct visitors per row (k-anonymity threshold) is reached. This reduces the re-identification of individual people via rare location combinations and follows the principle of data minimisation. It is a suppression of small cohorts, not a guarantee of anonymity. Your headline metrics remain unaffected.
