BIMI validator
Validate BIMI DNS record and logo URL.
How this tool works
The BIMI validator checks the BIMI DNS record (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) of a domain and validates the logo URL. BIMI enables displaying a brand logo next to emails in supported mail clients (Gmail, Apple Mail) — prerequisite is DMARC p=quarantine or p=reject.
Typical use cases
- Validate BIMI setup before going live
- Check if the logo is reachable at the specified URL
- Verify DMARC policy (prerequisite for BIMI)
- After DNS change, validate the record is published correctly
Frequently asked questions
What is BIMI?
Brand Indicators for Message Identification — an email standard that allows displaying a brand logo next to authenticated emails. Supported by Gmail, Apple Mail, Yahoo and others.
What are the requirements for BIMI?
DMARC with p=quarantine or p=reject, SPF and DKIM must be set up, logo as SVG Tiny PS (max 32KB), optional: VMC (Verified Mark Certificate).
Do you need a VMC?
For Gmail yes — Google requires a Verified Mark Certificate from DigiCert or Entrust. Apple Mail and Yahoo show logos without VMC too.
Which logo format is required?
SVG Tiny PS (Portable/Secure) — max 32KB, square, centered, no text, no external references. Normal SVGs must be converted.
Where is the BIMI record set?
As TXT record at default._bimi.example.com. Content: v=BIMI1; l=https://example.com/logo.svg; a=https://example.com/vmc.pem
How long until the logo is displayed?
DNS propagation plus mail client cache. With Gmail it can take 24-72 hours until the logo first appears after correct setup.
