Broken link checker

Crawl a URL and find broken links (4xx/5xx). Up to 50 links.

Full address of the page whose links are checked, for example https://example.com. The check only fetches the pages.

How this tool works

The broken link checker crawls a URL, extracts all hyperlinks and checks their HTTP status in parallel. Broken links (4xx/5xx) are listed with URL and link text. Up to 50 links per page are checked — ideal for quick spot checks before a relaunch or after a migration.

Typical use cases

  • Before a relaunch, check all internal links on the homepage
  • After a domain migration, find dead links
  • Check blog posts for outdated external references
  • SEO audit: find 404 errors that waste crawl budget

Frequently asked questions

How many links are checked at maximum?

50 links per page. For entire websites (deep crawling) we recommend XICTRAQ monitoring with broken link alerts.

Are relative links also checked?

Yes — relative URLs are resolved against the base URL and then checked via HEAD request.

Why does a link show status 0?

Status 0 means the connection could not be established (DNS error, timeout, SSL error). The server was unreachable.

Are anchors (#) checked?

No — anchor links (fragment identifiers) are ignored since they do not trigger a separate HTTP request.

Are JavaScript-generated links detected?

No — we parse the initial HTML source. Dynamically inserted links via JavaScript are not captured.

What happens with a 403?

The link is counted as broken since the user cannot access it. Some servers block bot requests with 403 — that is a false positive.
