How this tool works
The Impressum checker verifies an imprint or legal notice page for completeness of mandatory information per § 5 DDG (formerly § 5 TMG). Checked are: name/company, address, email, phone, authorized representative, VAT ID, commercial register, plus recommended sections like disclaimer and the consumer dispute resolution statement per § 36 VSBG. The check runs entirely in your browser — your imprint text is not sent to any server.

Frequently asked questions
Does this check replace legal advice?
No. It is an automated heuristic that detects keywords. Industry-specific requirements (chamber membership, professional title for freelancers, supervisory authority) are not checked.
Which fields are mandatory?
Per § 5 DDG: name, address for service of process, fast electronic contact (email), for legal entities the authorized representative, if applicable VAT ID and commercial register entry.
Is my data stored?
No. The analysis runs entirely in your browser. The entered text is not transmitted to any server.
What is § 5 DDG?
The Digital Services Act (DDG) replaces the TMG since May 2024. § 5 DDG regulates the imprint obligation for telemedia — content-wise largely identical to § 5 TMG.
Why is "commercial register" not detected?
Detection searches for keywords like "Handelsregister", "HRB", "HRA", "Amtsgericht". If you use an unusual wording, the heuristic may miss it.
Does the imprint obligation also apply to social media profiles?
Yes — according to case law, commercial social media profiles must also contain an imprint or an easily accessible link to one.
