SEPA direct debit (DE) and credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex via Stripe). All prices are gross incl. 19% German VAT. With a valid VAT ID reverse charge applies, with third-country export a tax exemption — in both cases we automatically switch the plan price to the net amount; add-ons are then billed at the listed amount without VAT.

For every Stripe-paid invoice (first subscription, renewal, prorated switch) our in-house InvoiceGenerator produces a PDF/A-3 invoice: the visual PDF is rendered with mPDF, then horstoeko/zugferd embeds the structured XML (EN 16931, as “factur-x.xml”). Mandatory fields such as service period, VAT rate, buyer VAT ID and payment terms appear identically in PDF and XML — the file is directly machine-readable in B2B workflows. Delivered automatically by email, downloadable any time under Settings → Subscription & Billing.

Stripe customer portal is integrated — change plan, add/remove add-ons, update payment method, change address, cancel. All without support tickets.

If a Stripe charge fails (invoice.payment_failed), your account is immediately flagged “past_due” and we email you the notice including the next Stripe retry date. If the invoice stays open, a daily dunning cron (09:20 German time) runs three stages: stage 1 after 14 days (payment reminder), stage 2 after 21 days (1st reminder), stage 3 after 30 days (2nd reminder). Paid amounts and invoice numbers are never altered (GoBD) — only the reminder level is incremented.

If an invoice is still open 10 days after the 3rd reminder stage (about 40 days past due), the cron drops the plan back to Free and marks the account as suspended (suspension_reason=dunning). Lifetime accounts are exempt. As soon as the outstanding invoice is paid (invoice.paid webhook), we automatically clear past_due_at, suspended_at and suspension_reason — the suspension is lifted without a support ticket.

Under Settings → Profile you can set a separate invoice email address (billing_email), e.g. accounting or a shared mailbox. Invoices, dunning notices and credit notes are sent there instead of your login address. If left empty, your account email is used.

On an active subscription you switch plans without a new checkout: we move the existing Stripe subscription straight to the new price (proration_behavior=create_prorations). The difference for the current period is credited or charged on a pro-rata basis immediately and the new plan takes effect at once. Lifetime licences can only upgrade to a higher plan, not downgrade.

We handle VAT ourselves (no Stripe Tax). List prices are gross incl. 19%. With a valid VAT ID (intra-EU reverse charge) or a third-country sale (export, 0%), applyTaxCorrectPrice automatically switches the plan item of the Stripe subscription to the net price (gross / 1.19); add-on items stay at their listed amount and are shown at 0%. This works both ways: if the VAT ID is added or removed later, the price switches back — idempotent and with no upfront charge (proration_behavior=none). The VAT ID is validated against VIES.

Add-ons run as extra Stripe subscription items. Quantities (e.g. extra websites, team seats) can be changed any time — Stripe prorates the change. Quantity-based add-ons raise your effective limits directly: purchased “extra website” units add to the plan website limit, “extra team members” to the seats. On removal the unused time is credited; if the add-on was the only item on its subscription, that subscription is cancelled.

A daily retention cron prunes old raw monitoring data per plan: Free 7 days, Starter 30, Business 90, Agency 180 days. Analytics data: Starter 90 days, unlimited from Business up (Free has no analytics). The “Extended data retention” add-on raises monitoring to 24 months (730 days) and analytics to unlimited. Session recordings are capped at a maximum of 90 days independently for data-protection reasons, identified users (identify) at a maximum of 365 days (Art. 5(1)(e) GDPR).
