What it does

An alert is only valuable when it reaches the right person and leads to action. XICTRAQ provides a complete notification system with email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord, Telegram, webhooks and browser push. Define multi-level escalation chains so critical issues don't get lost. Schedule maintenance windows to avoid false alarms during updates. With on-call schedules and alert deduplication, your team stays focused instead of overwhelmed.

On-call alerts with escalation & multi-channel features

Multi-Channel Notifications

Email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord, Telegram and custom webhooks. Each channel is configurable per monitor and escalation level. Combine channels for maximum reachability. On top of that, browser push is enabled per device rather than per monitor.

Escalation Policies

Configure multi-level escalation policies: initial notification, team-lead escalation, management alert with individual time windows. Automatic forwarding when an alert is not acknowledged.

02 / 07

Maintenance Windows

Schedule regular or one-time maintenance windows during which alerts are suppressed. Automatic activation and deactivation ensure monitoring resumes seamlessly after maintenance.

03 / 07

On-Call Rotation

Create on-call schedules with automatic rotation. Weekly, daily or on a custom schedule. Handoff notifications automatically inform every team member when they are on duty.

04 / 07

Alert Deduplication

Automatic deduplication of repeated alerts: within the deduplication window (10 minutes by default, configurable) only one notification is sent per monitor, even if the error is detected multiple times. Measurably reduces alert fatigue.

05 / 07

Webhook Integration

Send alert data as JSON to any endpoint. Ideal for custom dashboards, ticket systems (Jira, Zendesk) or automations. Full payload with monitor details, error type and timestamp.

06 / 07

Alert overview in the dashboard

A central alerts page in the dashboard: every alert filtered by status (active, resolved) and severity, with a detail view including timeline and delivery channels. Acknowledge, resolve or delete individual alerts and export a postmortem — without the detour via email or chat.

Process

How it works

1

Set up notification channels

Connect email addresses, Slack workspaces, Teams channels or webhook URLs. Test each channel with one click to verify delivery.

2

Define escalation rules and schedules

Define who gets notified when. Create on-call schedules, configure escalation levels and define maintenance windows for planned work.

3

Receive and acknowledge alerts

When an incident occurs, you receive a notification on all configured channels. Acknowledge the alert to stop escalation. After resolution, an all-clear notification follows automatically.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Which notification channels are supported?
Seven channels: email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord, Telegram, a generic webhook (HMAC-signed, with resend) and browser push. The first six can be combined per monitor and escalation level; browser push is enabled per device instead. Escalation and on-call rotation run internally in XICTRAQ — external incident-management tools are not integrated directly; mirror an existing setup via the generic webhook.
How does escalation work?
You configure up to ten escalation levels with channels and recipients. Level 1 notifies the responsible person on initial alert. Levels 2 (e.g., team lead) and 3 (e.g., management or on-call channel) kick in time-based if the previous level is not acknowledged within the defined window.
Can I suppress alerts during maintenance?
Yes. Maintenance windows can be defined as one-time or recurring (e.g., every Wednesday 2:00-4:00 AM). During a maintenance window, no alerts are triggered. All monitoring data is still collected and visible later in reports.
What is alert deduplication and why is it important?
Alert deduplication prevents you from being notified again on every check during an ongoing issue. Per monitor and alert key, only one notification is sent within the deduplication window. The window is 10 minutes by default and can be set between 5 minutes and 24 hours in the notification settings. This reduces alert fatigue and helps your team focus on resolution instead of dismissing alerts.
How do I set up an on-call rotation?
Under Settings > On-Call, create a rotation schedule. Add team members and choose the rotation rhythm (daily, weekly or custom). Handoff notifications at shift changes are sent automatically. Exceptions and time off are configured via on-call overrides with a time range and a replacement responder.
Why no SMS channel?
SMS gateways typically cost several cents per message and are less reliable internationally than modern messaging services. Telegram, Slack, Discord and Teams deliver alerts typically under 2 seconds, support rich text, buttons and groups — for free. If you still want a phone notification, use the mobile app push notifications of your messaging client (iOS/Android).
